I am because . . .

"[F]or I was hungry and you gave me food,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
I was naked and you gave me clothing,
I was sick and you took care of me"
Matthew 25:35-36
One of my most challenging life lessons has been not feeling ashamed because of my need to reach out and ask for help and/or support when necessary.  Since I now believe living  an authentic life is synonymous with NOT living in fear for any reason whatsoever, I've also learned [as a healthy component of this lesson] that we do NOT need to surround ourselves with people who belittle or demean us.  Allowing the toxicity of dysfunctional people to be THEIR toxicity and not my subjugation to the idle whims of the emotionally dysfunctional has been one of the most freeing aspects of no longer wearing an ill-fitting cloak of superwoman.

Another liberating aspect of authenticity is feeling and expressing genuine and sincere gratitude when it blossoms out of the tangle of emotions that surfaced when I finally, but FINALLY accepted that asking for help was not anything for which I needed to feel shame.
